Residents do not choose a curbside garbage hauler. Temporary dumpsters are different. We do not have an exclusive Omaha hauler, and this form does not reserve a box.
City carts vs. a project dumpster
Omaha residential garbage, recycling, and yard-waste collection is a City contract. FCC Environmental has been the city’s collection contractor since late 2020. That contract is about weekly carts, not about who may drop a short-term roll-off in a driveway.
Public listings show many independent roll-off companies serving Omaha. That is the opposite of a single-company exclusive for temporary dumpsters. If you need a box for a project, you are shopping a private market — and you should treat any quote you get as that company’s quote, not ours.
Driveway first, street only with a city permit
The usual path is private property: a driveway or a pad the truck can reach without sitting in the street. If the box has to occupy City right-of-way — the street, a lane, or other public space — Omaha requires a Street Obstruction Permit. That permit is also used for portable storage, lifts, and similar temporary uses of the right-of-way.
We do not publish third-party permit fee numbers. Fees change, and unofficial blogs disagree. Read the city’s permit page before you plan a street placement.

- Council Bluffs is a different city and a different Iowa right-of-way process.
What to decide before you request a box
Haulers price by size, weight, material, and days — not by a single “Omaha dumpster” number. Useful notes for a callback:
- What is coming out of the house or yard (mixed household, wood, dirt/concrete, roofing).
- Whether a truck can reach a driveway without blocking a sidewalk or hydrant.
- How many days you actually need the box sitting there.
- Whether anything is banned at the landfill you will use (paint, tires, appliances often have separate rules).
Size talk in yards is only a planning language. A kitchen gut is not a whole-house cleanout. Do not oversize “just in case” if the truck cannot place the box you asked for.
